Anne Rogers
At her studio at
Griffin Mill in Stroud, Anne Rogers designs and creates a range of fine
felted garments and accessories from finest merino wool. Her work explores
the versatility of felt as a medium through colour and texture,
blending different shades of fleece with wisps of silk, linen and metallic
threads to create a fabric with a rich depth of colour.
She combines merino wool with fine woven fabrics, making use of the unique
felting and shrinkage property of wool to create new textiles with
exciting textures.
Anne studied
mathematics at
Oxford
and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1981. She took a career break
whilst her family were growing up before changing direction to rekindle
her love of textiles, gaining a City and Guilds diploma feltmaking at
Gloscat in
Cheltenham.
She has been a member of the International Feltmakers Association since
2001, working with skilled felt artists from all over the world and
continuing to extend her professional practice. She is also a member of
the Gloucestershire Guild of Craftsmen, exhibiting her work at their base
in Painswick.
Anne’s current
collection includes jackets, waistcoats and delicate tops, scarves and a
range of berets, seamless felt glove and pleated cuffs as well as
corsages, pin cushions and needle cases.
